BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, AUGUST 25TH (CUOPM) – Kittitian-born nurse Yvonne Brookes has been named a regional winner in the 2011 NURSE.com Nursing Excellence program in the Mentoring category, one of six categories of Advancing & Leading the Profession, Clinical Care, Community Service, Management, Mentoring and Teaching.

Ms. Brookes, who was trained at the famed Guys Hospital in London, has worked as a nurse and nurse administrator in the USA for close to 30 years and now works in the Baptist Health system in Florida.

“Congratulations on your selection for this wonderful honor! As a regional WINNER, your nomination will now proceed to the national level of our Nursing Excellence program, and you will be eligible to be named a National Nurse of the Year in your category of Mentoring,” said Eileen Williamson, Senior Vice President, Nursing Communications & Initiatives Office.

Brookes was informed that in the next several weeks she will be hearing from a member of the NURSE.com team in regard to the details of receiving the regional WINNER award.

“As a regional WINNER you will also be featured in an upcoming issue of NURSE.com, along with the five other WINNERS from your region,” said Williamson.

Coming to the closure of the 2011 Nursing Excellence program, Brookes’ nomination and those of all the regional WINNERS (54) from around the country in nine NURSE.com regions will be judged again in the National Nurse of the Year part of the program, and six of those 54 (one in each category) will be named a national WINNER.

The six will be notified in October, and then in November, they will be featured in a story in NURSE.com magazine.
