Kittitian National Donates to Irish Town Primary School

Basseterre, St. Kitts, 24 April 2023 (ZIZ Newsroom) –Kittitian National and Past Student of the Irish Town Primary School, Dr. Robert Springett donated electronic supplies to the institution in a short ceremony held at the Ministry of Education on Thursday (April 20, 2023).

The donation was received by Chief Education Officer, Francil Morris who stated that he is “committed to the improvement of education which includes the use of technological devices in our schools”.

He also noted that the donation will help in the delivery of the curriculum.

“According to John Dewey, an American philosopher and educational reformer, he said, and I quote, we teach today as we taught yesterday, we rob our children of tomorrow. Therefore, the contribution of the technological devices by Dr. Robert Springett, it and his team will undoubtedly help teachers deliver the curriculum and provide our students with a high quality of education.”

Dr. Springett spoke of the importance of the students having the necessary equipment in this technological age.

“It’s necessary to understand the relevance and the time in which we live, and just leave it as a simple note. We must pay attention to what is necessary and for them to have this type of availability to them, which means now they can actually improve progress and move forward in the age of technology, if it’s not available, you can’t use it. You can’t learn it. This is something new, something we hope to continue and something we hope to be a part of for a long time to come. Building and strengthening our youth in our communities.”

Principal of Irish Town Primary, Avonelle Carey-Fraites thanked Dr. Springett for the donation.

The donation was made through the Dr. Springett Youth Initiative and consisted of 15 laptops, 2 microscopes, 2 flatscreen TVs, and science accessories.
