Lawmakers to debate five Bills on Wednesday

Basseterre, St. Kitts, July 16th 2013 (CUOPM) – Five Bills will be debated when the St. Kitts and Nevis National Assembly meets on Wednesday of this week.

According to the Order Paper issued by Mr. Jose Lloyd, the Clerk of the lawmaking body, the Prime Minister and Minister responsible for Finance, Sustainable Development, Human Resource, Defence Force and Police, the Rt. Hon. Dr. Denzil L. Douglas will seek leave to introduce and give its first reading, the National Assembly Elections (Amendment) Bill, 2013. This Bill will also be given its second reading and debated at Wednesday’s sitting.

Attorney General, the Hon. Jason Hamilton will lead debate on The Bankruptcy and insolvency Bill, 2013.

Debate on The Immigration (Amendment) Bill, 2013 and The Protection of Employment (Amendment) Bill, 2013 will be led by Minister of Foreign Affairs, Homeland Security, Labour, Justice and Legal Affairs, the Hon. Patrice Nisbett.

Minister of Tourism and International Transport, International Trade, transport, Industry, Commerce and Consumer Affairs, Sen. the Hon. Richard “Ricky” Skerritt will lead the debate on The Hire Purchase Bill, 2013.
