LICA Finals Postponed

CricketFilePhotoHSports Page — The three day final match in this year’s LICA competition did not commence on Thursday 16th October, as previously scheduled.

A press release from the controlling body of cricket within the Leeward Islands however, gave an explanation:

Press Release

St. John’s, Antigua – The recent passage of Hurricane Gonzalo and the damage left in its wake have forced LICA to postpone the finals of the 3 Day and Limited Overs tournaments. The island of Anguilla was badly affected with the passage of Hurricane Gonzalo. Most of the island is still without power and communication. In light of the extent of the damage and having regard for our member, the LICA Executive took the decision to postpone the finals.

The 3 Day final which was originally scheduled to be played between Thursday, 16th and Saturday, 18th October, 2014 will now be played from Thursday, 30th October to Saturday, 1st November, 2014. The final of the 3 Day tournament will be contested between Anguilla and Antigua.

Meanwhile, the Limited Overs final will be played on Sunday, 2nd November, 2014 between Antigua and St. Kitts. Both finals will be played at the Little Bay Playing Field, Montserrat.

LICA regrets any inconvenience caused by the postponement of the finals. We continue to empathize with our brothers in Anguilla and wish them a speedy return to normal day-to-day activities.
