Lions Club adopts roundabout

(ZIZ News) — The St. Kitts Lions Club has officially adopted the roundabout located on the F.T. Williams Highway near Gillard’s Gas Station.

Members of the Lions Club gathered at the roundabout on Thursday for a ground-breaking ceremony to signal the start of a beautification project inside the roundabout.

Dexter Fassale of Awe Architects in speaking of what is expected upon completion of the project said “The whole idea is to provide a home for the some of the emblems in the possession of the Lions Club. Added to that, the whole idea is to add somewhat of a facelift to this area. It’s some form of a small urban intervention but we do hope that the outcome will be something that will be admired by many.”

Sherwin D. Greenidge District Governor For Sub-District 60 B of the Lions Club said the club pays special attention to the environment and expressed his pleasure at being able to attend Thursday’ ceremony.

“I am really delighted to be here in St. Kitts and especially to be able to participate in turning the soil for what I expect to be the beautification of this roundabout here in St. Kitts. We the lions club pay a lot of emphasis on the environment and this is a good example of a project that will green the area but more importantly put the presence of the Lion’s club here where when persons pass this roundabout they will recognize the good work of the lions in St. Kitts,” he said.

According to The International Lions Club website, the global service framework focuses the efforts of Lions and Leos on five service areas one of which is the environment.
