Lions Convention

ZIZ News, May 23, 2013 — Lions Club members from across the region are in St. Kitts for a regional convention.

And as we hear in this report, it brings together representatives from various countries in the spirit of community service and goodwill.

The 33rd Multiple District Convention began last night with an opening ceremony at the Marriott Resort.

In officially opening the convention, Governor General His Excellency Sir Edmund Lawrence noted the club’s history is filled with works of community service and good deeds.

He specifically mentioned the club’s “sight first” programme to prevent blindness by providing cataract surgery and improving eye care services.

The ceremony also included the presentation of flags which symbolizes the goal to affirm the spirit of understanding among the peoples of the world.
