Local Businesswoman Embark On An Island Wide Charity Toy Drive

Local businesswoman of Dazzling Eyes Promotion, Julie Smithen will be hosting an island wide charity toy drive on Christmas Eve.

She explains her rationale for hosting this event is to bring happiness into the lives of persons who have been affected by Covid-19.

“It’s a charity island wide toy drive, we know Covid affected a lot of people especially single parents so we want to be able to put smiles on children’s faces and bless some families.”

Smithen said they will begin at Central Fiennes Ave and make their way around the island from 10am.

She also explained what the children can expect.

“So what we’re going to do we’re going to have Santa Clause on a pick-up truck and Santa Clause will be ringing the bell so once the kids hear the bell they come out and they receive a goody bag with toys. The toys are for the less fortunate children so we have quite a few number of names that we are going to issue these toys to.”

Shona Billinghurst who will be donning the Mrs. Clause costume to distribute the toys said she felt honoured to be participating in this initiative.

“Well when Julia reached out to me I thought that it was a very good idea to actually put a smile on the kids’ faces during this Christmas season and as we all know about the pandemic some parents are not financially stable to be doing certain things for their children during this time so I thought it was a brilliant idea and I am honoured to be a part of this drive.”

Smithen said there will be over 650 goody bags and will they will be issued to children who are less fortunate.

She also thanked all her sponsors who helped to make this initiative a reality.
