Local Cricket League gets underway

KeithScarboroughFilePhotoC(Sports Page)– Cricketing chief on Nevis, Keith Scarborough on Wednesday indicated that he is anticipating an exciting local cricket season this year.

The season will officially bowl off today at 1 pm at the ET Willet Park with a brief ceremony which is expected to feature short addresses from a representative of the Nevis island Administration; President Scarborough himself; Cricket Development Officer in the Leeward Islands, Junie Mitchum and one or two of the sponsors of some of the various leagues to be hosted this year.

The first league will commence this coming weekend when teams will engage each other in a 10/10 series which will be played on Saturday 22nd and Sunday 23rd February.

Teams will not be required to pay a fee when registering for this tournament but Scarborough is urging all interested teams to complete the registration process for the second division and first division competitions upcoming.

First division teams will be required to pay a fee of $300.00, while second division teams will pay $200.00.

The second division competition is expected to commence next week Thursday 27th February.
