Local Golf Pro assists youngsters

Sports Page — Robert Byron, the local Golf professional attached to the Four Seasons Resort is urging parents on Nevis to encourage their children to get involved in learning the game of GOLF.

He was speaking at the annual summer Golf program hosted by the Youth and Sports Department. The camp, as has been the case for the last few years, is being held on the greens of the Four Seasons Resort.

Approximately twelve children are involved in the program and they are also being closely watched by Sports Coordinator within the Department, Carl Tuckett who indicated that he also is taking the opportunity to improve his ‘swing.’

Byron explained that the children are being taught the basics of the game which include positioning and swing.

He also spoke to the many opportunities on offer through a career in Golf and pointed to another local Golf professional, Alva David who has made a name for himself overseas because of his skills in the game.

The camp is expected to conclude on Friday 14th August but Byron indicated that he is willing to accommodate the children at other times that are convenient to them and their parents, so that they can improve on what was taught at the camp and remain in constant practice.
