Man allegedly robs bank with machete in Pennsylvania

Everett, Pennsylvania (AP) — A western Pennsylvania man has been jailed on charges he robbed a small town bank while armed with a machete.

Thirty-nine-year-old Charles Risenburg, of Six Mile Run, faces a July 1 preliminary hearing on robbery and theft charges stemming from Friday’s heist at the Hometown Bank in Everett. That’s about 100 miles east southeast of Pittsburgh.

Police say Everett demanded money from a teller and showed the sword in his waistband, before he ran out of the bank and flagged down a driver he knew to get away.

Police say they caught Risenburg minutes later and found a 16½-inch machete on him.

He remained in the Bedford County Jail Monday.

Online court records don’t list an attorney for him.
