Man in custody charged for illegal firearm

The man who was taken into police custody in relation to a firearm that was found in the Village area on Tuesday, February 26 has been charged.

Police have formally charged Lerel Archibald of Infirmary Road for the offences of possession of firearm and possession of ammunition.

On Tuesday one of the members of a joint patrol in the village area observed Archibald with what appeared to be a firearm. He ran, was pursued by the members of the security forces and was apprehended shortly after.

A search of the area resulted in the discovery of a .38 revolver with five (5) rounds of ammunition. The firearm was taken into police custody. Members of the Crime Scene Unit visited and processed the scene.
