CrimeShootingC(ZIZ News) — On Monday, police confirmed that another man has been killed.

Dead is 31-year-old Javid Merritt of Buckley’s Estate who was shot several times in his bedroom.

The incident was confirmed to ZIZ News by Deputy Commissioner of Police Stafford Liburd.

He said, “At about 5am (Monday 1st December), police in St. Kitts responded to a shooting at Buckley’s. The police went to the home of Javid Merritt, 31 years-old of Buckley’s where he was lying in his bedroom, having been shot.”

Liburd said that especially because no one is in police custody as yet, it is important that residents cooperate with the police as they carry out investigations.

“First, as I offer sympathy to the Merritt family and all who are friends and family of Javid, I believe on behalf of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force, it is important that we offer sympathy to the family who have lost a son, a friend, but, we are appealing that persons with information of any form, of any crime, including this crime, do not hesitate in calling the Basseterre Police Station or call any police station but, do feel comfortable in calling Crime Stoppers, 1-800-8477. Please feel free to call Crime Stoppers and share any information regarding this crime or any other crime,” Liburd said.
