Minister responsible for Gender Affairs, Hon. Marcella Liburd commended the participants for making the march a success.

She said, “It was definitely inspiring to see so many women, men and children out today (Friday March 7th) to celebrate International Women’s Day. I also want to say I feel happy because I said from the very beginning that this was about women forgetting all of our differences and coming together for one day just to be women and to share our views on women issues.”

The minister noted that she was also pleased to see women of different races, nationalities and values putting their beliefs aside for a greater cause.

“Whatever our views are, whatever our nationality is, it was happy to see all nationalities out today; all shades; all views and that is what it’s about. We are here to deal with women’s issues”

International Women’s Day, observed this year on March 8th, was centred on the theme “Inspiring Our Women.”
