Marshall All Stars two-peat

The Marshall All stars, an athletic team out of St. Kitts, totally dominated the 2nd annual Round island relay on Monday 5th May.

The race which was coordinated by chief organizers Reggie Douglas and James Weekes, commenced at the ET Willet Park, with the first baton station situated at the Four Seasons Resort and continued in that direction until the entire island route was covered and culminating back at the ET Willet Park.

A determined Antigua and Barbuda team tried their utmost to close the gap on the St.Kitts team but by the time the Kittitian known as STRAW had completed his leg from Zion to Pond Hill, it was almost a foregone conclusion, as he ran an extremely strong lap.  His team mate popularly known as MONKEY BUM virtually ate up the last lap between Brown Hill gap and the ET Willet Park and team Marshall All Stars once again celebrated in grand style.

Some seven Primary Schools also participated and the children also competed very strongly, with Inter Primary champs, Charlestown Primary, supported by an entire entourage and support staff of parents and Teachers, throughout the entire route, being the dominant force and clocking a record time for first place.

Ivor Walters Primary performed creditably to clinch the second spot.  The Nevis Academy, entering for their first year, also distinguished themselves well, just falling short of the Happy Feet team by six minutes, to hold the cellar position.

Completing the race for the Happy Feet team was West Indies Physio Therapist, Virgil Browne, who noted that his leg was somewhat tough as by that time, the sun was pelting through.

At the prize giving ceremony, the trophies and medals were presented by members of the Nevis Maternal fund, with Dr. Essien also addressing the gathering on the occasion.  Funds generated from the event will be once again donated to the hard working organization.
