Masud Sadiki and Jade Orchid among performers at SKABA’s Sugar Creole Basketball Festival this weekend

ZIZ News…Nov-9 2011 – The St. Kitts Amateur Basketball Association is in the final stages of preparation for their weekend basketball event labeled “Sugar Creole Basketball Festival 2011”. The weekend event had its named coined as a result of the combination of islands that will be mainly represented including Dominica which is known for Creole and its Creole Festival and St. Kitts which is known for it’s Sugar and now it’s Sugar Mas.

The weekend festival will not only feature a series of games and match-ups between local teams including the St. Kitts team and the Dominica National team but it will also feature various performances by local artistes and performers.

Headlining will be Masud Sadiki who will be performing during the halftime period of the match Dominica vs St. Kitts on Sunday evening. Sadiki is expected to put on a performance that will not only feature himself but also a group of young up and coming performers that he is grooming and mentoring

Along with Sadiki will be Jade Orchid who are a local group with a distinct Caribbean pop flavour. The weekend will also feature a halftime modeling show by the Movado Modeling Agency and a folklore presentation on Saturday during the half time period of the match Dominica vs SKABA Champions Ghuat Bucs .

“This weekend is all about merging sports and entertainment to bring a truly exciting experience to the fans who have supported basketball and sports in general over the years,” said an Official of the Weekends’ Organising committee.

“Not only will persons have an opportunity to see the tallest and biggest man in Caribbean Basketball in former NBA Player Garth Joseph but they will also have an opportunity to get a glimpse of SKABA’s best players matching their skills with the best players out of Dominica. Also with performers like Masud Sadiki and Jade Orchid the Dominicans will no doubt experience a musical treat that they will be able to travel back to their island and talk about for months and years to come,” the official continued

The Dominica National Team will arrive on island on Thursday and will be hosted by the ECCB Staff Association on Friday before they engage in their first match-up against the “A’ Division Champions the Challengers Exodus at the Challengers Hardcourt at 9pm.

The match is expected to be punctuated by a Jam session with the Small Axe Band. The Dominicans will then face the SKABA Champions Ghaut Bucs on Saturday at 8pm at Basketball City. This will be preceded by a match between St. Kitts and Nevis at 6:30pm. Then on Sunday the Dominica National Team will play St. Kitts at 8pm preceded by a game between Exodus and Young Legs (Inner City League Champions).

The games will also see many give-aways and the association is also preparing to reveal something very special to the fans.

The games are also expected to be streamed LIVE on the internet compliments E-Caribbean and InSKN.com. Therefore persons overseas will be able to view the shot for shot action from the comfort of their homes.
