(ZIZ News) — On Thursday, third grade students of the Irish Town Primary School were the recipients of backpacks donated by the Concerned Citizens for a Better McKnight group.
The group, which is comprised of former residents of the McKnight community, now residing overseas, donated 30 backpacks to the students.
The presentation was made by Ian “Youth Man” Nisbett, son of the late McKnight calypsonian “The Might Bathtowel”.
During the presentation, there was a moment of silence for the late Ernest Hendricks, a former resident of McKnight.
Each student received two exercise books, two pencils, two pens, two sharpeners, one ruler, one pencil case, one box of crayons, one large eraser, two pencil top erasers, two glue sticks, one dictionary and one calculator.
This is the fifth consecutive year the group has assisted students with school supplies.
