Ministry of Community Development, Culture and Gender Affairs celebrates National Month of the Family 2012 (Sunday May 13th to Friday June 22nd 2012)

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, 16th May 2012: The Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis through the Department of Social Services and Community Development has been commemorating International Day of Families on May 15th for the past three to five years. Our celebrations this year will bring attention to the strengthening of family bonds. Therefore we are launching a National Month of Family which will include various activities across all our communities.

The International theme for the Day of Families (May 15th) is “Ensuring Work-Family Balance.” The local adaptation of this theme for our celebrations is “Family Time is Precious Time – Ensuring Work-Family Balance.” During the course of the month, the Department of Social Services and Community Development in conjunction with private sector and civil society partners will host activities designed to share some examples of family activities and advocate some critical messages about children and fathers.

We urge the general public to stay tuned to the electronic and print media for our upcoming activities. Listen out for our inspirational reflections about mothers and fathers. Remember Family Time is Precious.
