Ministry of Education receives laptop donation from ASUS Foundation of Taiwan

As part of the Intelligence and Communication Technology collaborations between the Republic of China Taiwan and St. Kitts and Nevis, the Asus Foundation of Taiwan has donated 24 laptops to the Ministry of Education.

Representing the foundation, Resident Taiwanese Ambassador His Excellency George Gow Wei Chiu gave an overview of the Asus Foundation.

“Established in 2008, this foundation is supported by world leading computer manufacturer ASUS Computer Inc. The aims of the ASUS Foundation are utilizing computer resources for the care of the people, and shortening the digital divide around the world,” he said.

Ambassador Chiu further noted, “We are committed to provide further ICT support to shorten the digital divide and provide the equal opportunity for the people of St. Kitts and Nevis.”

Minister of Education Hon. Shawn Richards thanked the Asus Foundation and the Republic of China Taiwan for the generous donation.
“We are heartened by your extraordinary kindness that is evident in your presentation of 24 ASUS laptop computers to the Ministry of Education. These devices would definitely provide support for our educational institutions as they increase the available resources to improve teaching and learning through the infusion of more technological tools in our classrooms,” noted Minister Richards.

The donation of 24 laptops was made on Friday during a ceremony to mark the 106th observance Of Taiwan’s National Day and the 34th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between St. Kitts and Nevis and the Republic of China Taiwan.
