Ministry of Education’s Summer Workshop for Teachers

(ZIZ News) – Tradition was kept alive on Monday as the Ministry of Education’s Annual Summer Workshop kicked off, signalling the start of the new school term.

Speaking for the first time at the workshop in his capacity as Minister of Education, the Hon. Shawn Richards said this year’s theme is timely as the world around us is constantly changing.

“The theme for this year’s workshop and school year; Today’s Vision, Tomorrow’s Reality: Looking to the Future; is a timely one. We recognise that education is dynamic. The landscape is constantly changing so it cannot be business as usual. There must be visionary educators who will help to make the transition to the future a reality,” he said.

Minister Richards further emphasized the Ministry’s commitment to ensuring that teachers are fully trained to deal with advances in technology.

He said, “Professional development and training of teachers and officers will remain at the top of the Ministry’s agenda. This modern technological world is forever changing and evolving. It is therefore imperative that the educational system continues to seek ways to keep updated with new and emerging trends and methods ensuring that the needs of students are met.”

The event was held at the Rivers of Living Water Christian Center at Lime Kiln.
