Ministry of Tourism to Host Train the Trainer Workshop

The Ministry of Tourism in partnership with the Tourism Product Development Company, (TPDCo) of Jamaica, is gearing up to host a Community Tourism Train-the-Trainer Workshop this weekend.

Community Tourism Officer, Shaline Welcome explained that the workshops are designed to benefit each community.

Ms. Welcome said that a guest trainer from the Jamaica Tourism Product and Development Company will be facilitating the 2 day workshop.

She said that representatives from the Ministry visited Jamaica and used the opportunity to learn as much as possible from their Community Tourism programme.

The Community Tourism Officer said the workshops are designed to help bridge the income gap in tourism between rural and urban communities.

She said participants will be exposed to best practices in Empowering and Mobilising Communities, Creating Sustainable Tourism Businesses and Safeguarding our Natural Environment, rich Heritage and Culture for present and future generations.

The workshop will be held on Saturday, April 13th, 2019 from 9 am to 5 pm and then on Sunday April 14th from 9 am to 1 pm at the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) Conference Room.
