Mixed Messages about Team Unity’s Stance on Antigua Elections

(ZIZ)– Mixed messages have come from the opposition coalition, Team Unity, regarding its stance on the recently held elections of Antigua and Barbuda.

Last Friday, following Thursday’s elections, Team Unity Leader, Dr. Timothy Harris, through a release, offered words of congratulations to the new Prime Minister, the Honourable Gaston Browne of the Antigua And Barbuda Labour Party.

However, Deputy Chairman of the St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party, the Honourable Nigel Carty revealed that Team Unity’s Deputy Leader, The Honourable Shawn Richards, was among a contingent from Team Unity who journeyed to Antigua in support of the United Progressive Party [UPP].

He said, “The Honourable Shawn Richards was down there supporting the UPP who was the outgoing government and some of their unity partners like Craig Tuckett and so on have been out there, in Antigua supporting the UPP and working hard to ensure that the UPP would win.”

The Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party and the St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party have demonstrated their strong ties in recent months with the ABLP’s Honourable Asot Michael being featured at the SKNLP’s Convention and the SKNLP’s Dr. Terrance Drew speaking at the ABLP’s Convention.
