Monitoring Atlantic Disturbance

Basseterre, St. Kitts, July 26, 2020 (ZIZ News): The St. Kitts Met Office is monitoring a system in the Atlantic Ocean which is forecast to pass close to or through the Leeward islands later this week.

According to the National Hurricane Centre A broad area of low pressure located over the central tropical Atlantic continues to produce a wide area of disorganized showers and thunderstorms as it moves westward.

Conditions are forecast to be conducive for development and a tropical depression or tropical storm is likely to form within the next two or three days as the system nears the Lesser Antilles.

The NHC says Interests in the Lesser Antilles should monitor the progress of this system.

Senior Met Officer Elmo Burke says the Met Office is monitoring the system’s development as it is forecast to travel more northwards than Tropical Storm Gonzalo and pass through either the Windwards or Leeward Islands.

He said more information will be given as they monitor the situation.
