Montessori academy environment week a major success

Pump Road, Nevis — Montessori Academy Nevis students exhibited great passion and interest in the protection of the environment during their annual environment week.

This time round, the students looked at recycling, how to save energy in our day to day life, marine conservation and water conservation.

The students were privileged to have Miriam Knorr visit them and show them practical ways of recycling goods such as tissue box and elastic band into a guitar, two toilet rolls into binoculars and glass jam bottles into Christmas decorations. She also spoke to upper elementary students about the dangers of littering.

The students participated in a beach clean-up exercise at Gallows Bay where over 400 plastic bottles were collected and eight bags were filled. A tree donated by Miriam Knorr was planted in the school grounds.

All students completed a project on conservation. The school introduced recycling bin for plastic bottles that will be sent to St. Kitts for recycling.
