Month of Activities for Independence 31

AstonaBrowne-1ZIZ News — “A Nation On the Move…Celebrating Our Progress” is the theme in focus as St. Kitts-Nevis celebrates Independence 31 with a month of activities.

Recognising the importance of this year’s observance, ZIZ Broadcasting Corporation featured members of the Independence 31 Committee on Monday night’s edition of “The Round Table”.

During her presentation, Committee Head, Her Excellency Astona Browne put the theme in perspective.

“The events that have been earmarked for this year will showcase where we have come from as a nation that has to constantly of course contend with the competitiveness of globalisation and find our own niche as a small state. We have to sustain ourselves; we have to develop that strong resilience even in the face of adversities, diversities and vulnerabilities,” she said.

Ambassador Browne then called on nationals and residents of St. Kitts-Nevis to join the month-long celebration.

“We would therefore want Kittitians and Nevisians alike to start the month of September with us with a positive perspective on independence. In fact, we have chosen to celebrate for the entire month, setting aside the time to focus on the progress that we have made while we move on, facing our challenges of course, but we move on anyway inspired by our capabilities to be a leader, trendsetter, standing tall with those countries which are larger and more resourced but no less committed to achieve our development goals,” she said.
