More Hiccups In Local League

Sports Page — Thursday 29th August 2013 — After an impressive opening ceremony to commence the local Football league, the Nevis Football Association has been forced to deal with some other off the field issues.

The Legend’s cup which was scheduled to commence on Tuesday 28th August, did not get on the way. The scheduled game between Stoney Grove Strikers and CCC Bath United did not materialize as word was received that the CCC Bath United would not be showing up for the game.

CCC Bath United’s Coach Alex Claxton had previously indicated that his club and at least four others had issues with the legitimacy of the current Association, as it is felt that an AGM is overdue, based on the guidelines of the constitution.

President George BRIGO Meade on the other hand, is convinced that his Association is operating legitimately and in accordance with the constitution.

Claxton recently submitted a letter to the Secretary of the Association with signatures from four other clubs, outlining his concerns.

President Meade on Wednesday indicated that his Association will have an emergency sitting today Thursday 29th August and the letter sent by Claxton will be discussed and a response sent.

He is also hoping to have the start of the Legend’s cup rescheduled to the weekend.
