Mothers Union Hamper Distribution

Basseterre, St. Kitts, December 12, 2019 (ZIZ News): On Wednesday, members of the St. George’s Anglican Mothers’ Union distributed food hampers to shut-in residents of various communities.

The members identified thirty persons who received prepared bags with food items such as oats, crackers and juice boxes.

Assistant Secretary for the St. Georges Mothers’ Union, Jhanelle Lewis explained why the union continues this initiative every year.

“For the past 10 plus years the St. George’s Mothers’ Union Branch has been doing an annual activity whereby we collect food items and prepare hampers for the shut-in members of our community. These are persons who belong to our church and also persons who may not be Anglican so they are well known to the community and to us and because it is the Christmas season, when we receive the greatest gift of all from God, we feel it’s a responsibility for us to give back to share, to spread the Christmas cheer and the Christmas spirit.”

She also spoke of the various areas in which they’ve made the distributions.

“We have shut-ins on the Basseterre area, the Conaree area and the St. Peters area. So its generally Basseterre and surrounding communities.”

The items were donated by members of the St. George’s Mothers’ Union and the church community as well as major sponsors.

The Mothers’ Union is an international Christian charity that seeks to support families worldwide.
