MRI Services Coming to St. Kitts

(ZIZ News) — Residents of St. Kitts will soon feel relief as the island’s Minister of State within the Ministry of Health, Hon. Wendy Phipps, has announced plans to purchase Magnetic Resonance Imaging or MRI equipment for the island.

Speaking during the most recent edition of “Working For You” on ZIZ Radio, Minister Phipps said, “We are now in the negotiating phase…in terms of getting the best prices for our people so that you no longer have to fly out to Antigua or St. Maarten to get an MRI.”

She added that the equipment “has been invested in by the private sector.”

MRI is a test that uses a magnetic field and pulses of radio wave energy to make pictures of organs and structures inside the body.

According to Minister Phipps, the MRI service will complement the Kidney Dialysis services presently available at the Joseph N. France General Hospital.
