Ms. Ismay Sweeney ‘Momma Maisie’ Celebrates 101 on May 29th 2012

Basseterre, St. Kitts: George Street Newtown was alive on Tuesday May 29th 2012 as members of the community, families and friends of Ms. Ismay Sweeney affectionately known as “Momma Maisie” celebrated her 101st Birthday. Appreciation was shown to Ms. Sweeney by students of the Tucker Clarke Primary School who rendered songs and well wishes to her.

Ever the delight, Ms. Sweeney expressed thanks to God for spearing her to see another year. She commented that the year had passed speedily for she was surprised to be celebrating another milestone. Her spirit was infectious as she sat and welcomed all into her home to wish her well. Even more greetings could be heard being yelled from George Street.

Ms. Sharon Rattan, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry with responsibility for Social Services presented to Ms. Sweeney a bouquet of flowers in commemoration of her milestone achievement. She was accompanied by Director of the Department of Social Services and Community Development, Ms. Azilla Clarke and Supervisor of Social Assistance, Mrs. Denise Byron Morris and Home Care Officer for the area Mrs. Iotha Charles – Benjamin.

The Government and people of St. Kitts and Nevis joins with the family and friends of Ms. Ismay Sweeney, affectionately known as “Momma Maisie” to wish her the best on her special day and many more to come.
