MSU to host Recruitment Seminars

Basseterre, St. Kitts (SKNIS): Midwestern State University’s Caribbean Students Organization will be hosting open seminars for undergraduates and postgraduates to learn about the institution and possibly sign up for the University’s Caribbean Recruitment Programme.

The organization celebrated its 20th anniversary this month, recognizing the over 1,200 students who have enrolled at the University since the programme began.

Education Officer in the local Ministry of Education Daryll Lloyd explained that the seminars will provide an excellent opportunity for persons who wish to move forward in their academic career.

Mr. Lloyd also stated that Dr. Randy Glean, International Student Director of the University and other Midwestern State University Officials will be in St. Kitts and Nevis to recruit persons.

“During these open session forums Dr. Randy Glean will [also] use the opportunity to share some of the success stories at Midwestern State University and other universities across the United States,” Lloyd stated.

Interested, eligible undergraduates will receive a scholarship and competitive waiver that allows them to pay less than the state resident tuition rate. Students can also earn additional scholarships through academic excellence and compete for the Good Neighbour Scholarship which covers tuition for the final year.

Eligible Postgraduates can earn scholarships and assistantships up to the full cost of their education based on individual academic records.

Both meetings will take place on Thursday, February 20, 2014. The first will be held at the Sixth Form Library in Charlestown, Nevis at 2:00 p.m. and the second at Basseterre High School, St. Kitts at 5:00 p.m.

Midwestern State University was the first institution to recognise the credits from all the local OECS colleges and paved the way for other institutions to do the same. The Caribbean Recruitment Programme is a collaborative effort sanctioned by the Government of St. Kitts and Nevis.
