ZIZ News…Nov 30, 2012 — On Tuesday 27th November 2012, the National Association of Administrative Professionals (NAAP), St Kitts Chapter, hosted a simple but elegant ceremony at the Ocean Terrace Inn in Fortlands. The purpose of this event was to install the newly-elected Executive Board that will serve the Association for the next two years until October 2014. The feature address was delivered by OAS Representative, Ambassador Starret Greene, and specially invited guests including Deputy Prime Minister Sam Condor, friends, well-wishers and members of the Association turned out to give their support.

Left to Right: Diane Prentice (Secretary); Karen Crossman (Nominated Member); Acklyn Blaize (Vice President); Karen Greene-Jeffers (President-Elect 2014); Dawn P Mills (President); Velma Merchant (Treasurer); Cassolis Richardson (Asst Secretary).

The programme was called to order by chair-person Claudia Williams, a long-standing member, Past President and Consultant to NAAP. She invited Pastor Deslyn Belle-Watson to open the proceedings with prayer after which she welcomed all the guests. The Installation procedure was then performed by Consultant Claudia Williams who was ably assisted by another Life Member, Consultant Lois Harris. The new executive members were given coloured candles, each symbolizing different characteristics which should distinguish their service, and after being charged with their responsibilities, they promised to serve the Association, uphold its principles and promote its ideals.

In her response, newly-installed President Dawn P Mills thanked the members for reposing their confidence in the new executive and reminded the Board and members that if they worked together, nothing would be impossible for them to accomplish. She encouraged them to embrace the Association’s objectives for the next two years which would be to raise the profile of NAAP in the community, increase training opportunities for members, assist in developing the skill sets of school children and executives alike and develop the administrative profession in the Federation.

Ambassador Starret Greene delivered an exceptional address focused on leadership, which was both inspiring and instructive. He pointed to the break-down and lack of leadership that has been manifesting globally, and which threatens the very foundation and ultimately the survival of our society. He shared that people are now looking for creative and innovative leadership and encouraged the new Board to provide decisive, resolute leadership that makes decisions with confidence and a high degree of certainty. He advocated a unity of purpose and harmony to ensure the growth and success of the organization.
