NAGICO assists St. Kitts’ Masters Cricket Team

Basseterre, St. Kitts (May 22, 2011) — NAGICO insurance company has come to the assistance of the St. Kitts’ Masters Cricket Team as the Team prepares to travel to St. Croix to participate in the Leeward Islands Masters Cricket Tournament over the period 26-30 May.

According to Team Manager Don “Dango” Farrell, a few players were added to the team at a very late notice and funds had to be sought to cover their travel expenses.

“NAGICO was approached and they willingly and immediately sponsored the airline tickets for three players namely Luther Kelly, a former Leeward Islands and Combined Islands star opening batsman; Junie Mitchum, former Leeward Islands batsman and presently one of the highest certified cricket coaches in the region; and Percy “Sly” Daniel, former Leeward Islands cricketer,” said Farrell.

“NAGICO is a die-hard supporter of local cricket having sponsored the Leeward Islands regional one day tournament for many years and this year has sponsored the Newtown Cricket Club with over $10,000. We must be very thankful for a company like NAGICO especially in these tough economic times. They are doing a wonderful job here in St. Kitts and Nevis,” added Farrell.

Mr. Rishi Singh, General Manager of NAGICO Insurance Company Ltd located at Port Zante in Basseterre, said that his company was always happy to assist sporting organizations as part of the Company’s corporate responsibility in community development through sports.

“NAGICO Insurance is very pleased to assist community organizations in their efforts at human development and nation building. We at NAGICO are extremely proud to play a small part in helping the St. Kitts Masters Cricket Team compete in the regional tournament and we do wish the team every success in the competition,” said Mr. Singh.

The Team consists of 17 players including a coach and assistant coach. Farrell said that he is very confident of the team’s chances in the Twenty-20 tournament.
