National Carnival Launch this weekend
Basseterre, St. Kitts – 5th November 2012 – The National Carnival Committee announces the Grand Launch of “Sugar Mas 41” on Saturday 10th November.
The pre-carnival extravaganza is designed for the entire family and will commence at 2:00pm with a spectacular street parade from Warner Park through the streets of Basseterre and culminating on Bank Street with the official Launch Ceremony starting at 6:00 pm.
The Carnival Launch will create an explosive start to the upcoming Carnival Season and will provide an opportunity to sensitize the general public, sponsors participants and the media about plans for this year’s festivities.
The event will once again celebrate the art of music, culture, and heritage of the Federation and will also include addresses by the Minister of Culture, and the newly appointed National Carnival Chairman.
Organizers have also indicated that other highlights will be the unveiling of this year’s Carnival slogan and Jingle, folklore presentations and performances by last year’s winners and other local artistes.
This year’s Mas and J’Ouvert Bands are also expected to inject much colour and vibrancy to the festive atmosphere with their 2012 costume presentations.
The general public is invited to attend the Grand Launch of the 2012-2013 National Carnival.
