Basseterre, St. Kitts, March 5, 2020 (ZIZ News): Organizers of events in St. Kitts and Nevis where there will be large numbers of people, such as fetes, concerts, and sporting competitions are being encouraged to contact the Ministry of Health for advice on ways to promote hygiene.

This was announced by National Disaster Coordinator of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Abdias Samuel, at a press conference to provide an update on the COVID-19 this week.

He said organizers of these mass gatherings will also be advised about measures to help protect patrons at their events.

“We want to advise you as to a number of measures that you can take in protecting the activity that you are going to coordinate and what we can do and how the national system, how the Ministry of Health can support,” Mr. Samuel stated.

Mr. Samuel said that the mass gatherings can also refer to transporting large amounts of persons at one time whether in passenger buses or as tour operators.

He added that experts suggest establishing hand sanitizing stations at mass gatherings as one measure of ensuring good hygiene.
