National Service of Prayer for 2019 Hurricane Season

Basseterre, St. Kitts, May 31, 2019 (ZIZ News): One day ahead of the official start of the 2019 Atlantic Hurricane Season a national service of prayer was held on Thursday at the Evangelical Centre at Needsmust.

While delivering a presentation, Deputy Disaster Coordinator, Claricia Langley Stevens reminded the audience of how fortunate St. Kitts and Nevis considering that the twin island Federation did not experience severe impacts from Hurricanes within the past decade.

At the end of the worship session, ministers and guests prayed for protection against storms, for those who have suffered and have been displaced by storms, for those who track and monitor hurricanes, for those who provide recovery and relief efforts.

There was also a prayer for essential services that is water or electricity, prayer over hurricane shelters, for institutions of health and health care providers, prayer for NEMA, disaster management agencies, volunteer agencies and all emergency responders.

Superintendent of the Wesleyan Holiness Church, Reverend Spencer Watts presented the sermon.
