Nationals in the BVI to meet with PM Douglas this evening

Basseterre, St. Kitts (CUOPM) – Nationals of the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis living in the British Virgin Islands will meet with their Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. Dr. Denzil L. Douglas this evening, Friday 7th February 2014.

Dr. Douglas will meet with nationals at Maria’s Hotel By The Sea at 7:30 PM.

The Prime Minister is in the BVI to attend a Creating Climate Wealth Summit on Necker Island & Moskito Island, home of Sir Richard Branson with other leaders in the Caribbean nations, finance institutions and top-tier renewable energy providers.

Prime Minister Douglas is expected to update nationals on the impact of the international economic and financial crisis on the local economy, highlight the challenges faced and the decisions taken to reduce the national debt which has resulted in the country achieving a 1.7 percent economic growth in 2013 and a projected growth of over 3 percent in 2014.

He will also discuss the achievements in tourism, healthcare, public utilities, agriculture, housing, manufacturing, sports, culture and social development.

On Saturday 8th February, Prime Minister Douglas will meet with nationals on St. Croix, in the United States Virgin Islands at the University of the Virgin Islands Campus at 7: 30 p.m. and on Sunday 9th February with nationals in St. Thomas at Victor’s Hideout, also at 7:30 P.M.

Prime Minister Douglas will be accompanied by the youthful St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party candidates in the persons of Dr. Norgen Wilson, Dr. Terrance Drew, Dr. Vance Gilbert and Mr. Konris Maynard.
