Charlestown, Nevis (July 7, 2011) — Lawyers for the leader of Nevis’ opposition CCM party, the Hon. Vance Amory, have conceded that Elections in Nevis will be held on Monday, July 11th and cannot be stopped by an injunction.

This concession came after lawyers for the Supervisor of Elections (Mr. Leroy Benjamin), Nevis Registration Officer (Bernadette Lawrence), and Attorney General (the Hon. Patrice Nisbett), that the Court had no jurisdiction or power to grant such an injunction after the Nevis Island Assembly had already been dissolved.

Amory was represented by Antiguan attorney, Dane Hamilton, QC.

The lawyers representing the Supervisor of Elections and the Attorney General were Sylvester Anthony and Dr. Henry Browne lead by Dominican Anthony Astaphan, SC, and Arudranauth Gossai representing the Registration Officer, Mrs. Bernadette Lawrence.
