Nevis cricket chief: We will participate fully in fund raising efforts

ZIZ Sports News…May 9 2012 — President of the Nevis Cricket Association, Sterling Marshall-Heyliger stated on Wednesday that his Association will participate fully in fund raising endeavours to assist ailing St. Kitts national cricketer, Codville Rogers in his recovery efforts.
Marshall noted that an invitation has been received from the St. Kitts Cricket Association for a Nevis masters team and a Nevis national team to participate in fund raising matches on the weekend of the 19th and 20th of May at Warner Park, versus their Kittitian counterparts. He stated that every effort will be made to have both teams prepared for the fund raisers.
When asked about the Nevis national squad selection, Marshall stated that he expects to have the squad later today and practice matches will be played shortly from which the team to participate in this year’s Leeward Islands tournament will be finalized.
Codville “Caddy” Rogers played cricket for the St. Kitts National Team for 15 years. He also played for the Leeward Islands Cricket Team from 2003-2010. Unfortunately, Caddy has been recently diagnosed with lymphoma, a form of blood cancer. His chemotherapy treatments will cost over $150,000. He needs five more rounds of chemotherapy over the next four months at the cost of $32,359.00 each round.
