Nevis Flamboyant Nursing Home receive medical supplies from British-based Company

NIA Charlestown Nevis – The Flamboyant Nursing Home on Nevis and the Alexandra Hospital received a donation of medical supplies on May 13, 2014 from a Nevisian who resides in England through the Simple Missions In Love (S.M.I.L.E) based in London, England.

At the brief handing over ceremony held at the Nursing Home, Hospital Administrator at the Alexandra Hospital Gary Pemberton spoke to the significance of the donation to the institutions.

“These items were donated on behalf of the late Gladys Warner, who was originally from Cotton Ground and these items were procured through the assistance of her daughter Andrea Williams who is presently residing in England, through the efforts and support of a charity group S.M.I.L.E out of London.

“These six boxes of items contain mainly clothing and toiletries and these items will be used to greatly enhance [the experience of] the residents of the Flamboyant Nursing Home. We are hoping that these items will go a long way in assisting with the comfort of the residents at the Flamboyant Nursing Home.

Mr. Pemberton also thanked the Warner family for the contribution.

“I just want to take this opportunity to say a big thank you to the family of Ms. Gladys Warner…for this generous contribution to the Alexandra Hospital. We here at the Hospital and the Flamboyant Nursing Home are very pleased to be accepting these donations,” he said.

Meantime, the Hospital Administrator encouraged members of the general public to contribute to the Flamboyant Nursing Home as well as the Alexandra Hospital to assist in improving the quality of service.

“We are also encouraging other persons who have interest in seeing the Alexandra Hospital and the Flamboyant Nursing Home progress to make the necessary donations. You can contact us and we will be able to let you know the items that are needed…Our main aim is to strive for continuous improvement in the quality of service we are providing here at the Hospital,” he said.

Also sharing similar sentiments was Nurse Manager of the Flamboyant Nursing Home Ena Sutton who thanked the Warner’s for their contribution to the Home.

“It’s always a delight to receive needed supplies for our residents…it signifies that persons do remember that they have an obligation to the elderly. So on behalf of the entire staff at the Flamboyant Nursing Home I just want to thank you very much, thank Ms. Warner’s family very much for remembering us,” she said.

Also present at the brief handing over ceremony were Head Nurse at the Alexandra Hospital Matron Aldris Pemberton-Dias, Medical Chief of Staff John Essien and Assistant Hospital Administrator Johnson Morton.
