Nevis Masters confident of Victory

Sports Page — Franklyn KUT Daniel, never a man to mince words was adamant on Tuesday 2nd September that the Nevis Masters will easily dispose of their St.Kitts counterparts, come this weekend.

Daniel, who is currently the President of the Nevis Masters Cricket Association, indicated that he had received an invitation from the St.Kitts Cricket Association for the Leeward Islands masters’ champions to engage their Kittitian counterparts this coming Saturday 5th September at the Warner Park Cricket stadium.

This, as that Association concludes what has been an interesting and exciting T-20 franchise tournament which involved local cricketers and guest players from Nevis and Antigua.

The masters’ encounter is scheduled for 4 pm ahead of the grand finals match up.

Daniel indicated that about five players from the winning team in the Leeward Islands masters’ tournament held earlier this year were unavailable.

‘’That just gives another set of talented players a chance to play,’ he said matter of factly.

Asked about the fitness level and match readiness of the players, he stated that they had not played any matches as a unit since the St.Maarten championships and may not be as fit as they were in that tournament but noted that they would be ready for the match and promised that they will wrap it up quickly and comprehensively.

‘We’ll just run over them easily,’ he stated.

The full squad heading to St.Kitts is as follows:

Wendell MICEY Wallace (capt); Ardie Liburd; Sterling DJ Marshall; Alexis Browne; Joel Simmonds (coach); Gerard TRINI Charles; Teddy BLACKMAN Liburd; Junior DUNCAN Mills; Sydney Newton; Charles YELLOW Hendrickson; Colin Archibald; Eustace Johnson; Elroy JIMBO David; Patrick Newton; Vellie Maynard and Ellison Smithen.
