Nevis Min. of Social Development to host Women’s Forum on Sustainable Development Goals

(ZIZ News) — Nevis’ Ministry of Social Development and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), are gearing up to host a one day Women’s Forum on Wednesday.

ZIZ spoke with Junior Minister of Social Development in the Nevis Island Administration, Hon. Hazel Brandy-Williams who gave an overview of the Women’s Forum.

“We are bringing together women across St. Kitts-Nevis from all respective areas. We are looking at persons from the face based organizations, professional women, grassroots women, women from the industrial site and girls from the Nevis Sixth Form College as well as the Clarence Fitzroy Bryant College. What we are trying to do in this forum is have them become more aware of the Sustainable Development Goals and the five pillars that pertain to women in particular”, she said.

The Junior Minister went on to explain the aim of the forum and its relation to the United Nations general assembly.

“The Women and Girls Forum is a part of the United Nation’s sixteen (16) days of activism against gender based violence and that is one of the functions that we are hosting to mark that very important sixteen days of action”, The Minister added.

The One Day Women’s forum will be held at The Mount Nevis hotel and is scheduled from 9:00 am. to 3:30 pm.
