Nevis Police Updates

ZIZ News—30th August, 2013–Four crew members of a St. Maarten Catamaran are currently in Nevis after their vessel ran aground on Wednesday night.

According to a statement, police officers of The Nevis Division, St. Kitts-Nevis Coast Guard, and the Customs Department on Nevis responded to a report that a sea vessel ran aground with four (4) persons on board.

The vessel is a 44 ft Catamaran that left St. Maarten for Guadeloupe. The vessel encountered navigation difficulty and ran aground in the Herbert Beach Area.

The vessel is currently being repaired; no one was injured.

Investigation into the incident will continue.

In other Nevis Police news, officers have arrested a young man for possession of almost half a kilogram of compressed Marijuana.

Yesterday afternoon police stopped and searched 18 year old Carshane Smith, better known as “Yardie” of East Park Range.

They found four hundred and eighty grams of compressed on him.

He has been charged with possession with intent to supply is likely to make an appearance at the next sitting of the Charlestown Magistrate Court which begins on the fourth of September.
