Nevis Team holds on to win versus mixed team

BasketballFilePhotoDSports Page — A team comprising of players from several local teams on Nevis, engaged the Nevis select team in a practice encounter on Monday 1st December.

The game was a tight one up to the first half with the mixed team tying the scores and leading occasionally. However, in the second half, the Nevis team, urged on by Coach Dwayne Warner, upped the tempo and took a clear lead to win the game.

Final score: Nevis team 70 Mixed team 59.

President of the local Basketball Association, Wanda Parry expressed disappointment at the overall performance of the team.

She indicated that the team is due to leave Nevis on the evening of Thursday 4th December via the MV Mark Twain, en route to Montserrat where they will take part in the recently revived Leeward Islands Basketball championships.

The Nevis team reads:

Kirt Herbert; Royden Browne; Donford Wilkinson; Jennerson France; Justin Jeffers; Karvin Smith; Jeffrey Lewis; Justin Belle; Sandu Williams; Matthew Harding; Vance Allen and Norris Williams.

There are six teams participating in the LIBA tournament: Nevis; St.Kitts; Montserrat; BVI; Antigua and Barbuda.

Matches will be played from Thursday 4th to Tuesday 9th December.

Ms Parry is still optimistic that the Nevis team will perform creditably during the tournament.
