During the observance of World Tourism Day, the Ministry of Tourism will facilitate talks in schools by professionals who will share their knowledge and experience on the 2013 theme: “Tourism and Water: Protecting our Common Future,” in support of the United Nations International Year of Water Cooperation.

Other activities will include a radio quiz and an open day for locals at the Nevisian Heritage Village and the Museum of Nevis History.

The Ministry of Tourism calls on all stakeholders to implement sustainable practices in water consumption and to make every effort to keep Nevis’ coastal water resources uncontaminated, as they are one of the island’s main tourist attractions.

According to the Ministry, many residents are employed in the provision of water sport activities such as scuba diving, sailing and game-fishing for the island’s visitors.
