(ZIZ)– Nevis officials are making strides as they get government business back to normal following the treasury fire earlier this month.

Earlier, Prime Minister Douglas promised whatever help the federal government can provide and Treasurer, Colin Dore told ZIZ that the Ministry Of Finance has already promised to donate office equipment.

He also noted that the weekly workers have now been paid and all payments will be back on schedule soon.

“Workers who should’ve been paid last Friday, we didn’t meet that deadline…but I’m happy to report that today Tuesday the 29th we’re able to pay those persons for work done last Friday and we expect that things would be back to normal by Friday. So by the end of this week we’ll also be in a position to make a position for this current week,” he said.

On the 17th of January a fire destroyed the Treasury and VAT Office and severely damaged the Inland Revenue Department.

Offices have since been relocated to the Charlestown Post Office.
