Nevis Yacht Club Summer Sailing Program

(Sports Page)— A summer sailing program got underway at the Oualie Beach o Monday 14th July.

The special training in the unique art of sailing boats is being coordinated by the Nevis Yacht club, under the supervision of President Mark Theron.

Trainer Nick Dupres indicated that the youngsters are being taught the basics in sailing with a lot of emphasis being placed on safety procedures.

Initially, they are being taught as a group but eventually as the week progresses, they will be taught to sail the boats independently.

The training course commenced on Monday 14th July and will run for four weeks. Interested persons will be trained for one week and this will be open for new persons for the first three weeks and in the fourth and final week, all of the participants will be brought together.

Sessions will be held daily from Monday to Friday of each week and will commence at 9 am and finish at 3.30 pm.

Parents can still register their children at $500.00 EC per child, per week. This will take care of the provision of all of the necessary equipment and gear and also lunch as well, on a daily basis.

In the final week, the young sailors will participate in a mini competition to test their newly acquired skills.
