ZIZ Sports…April 3, 2012…Five Nevisian athletes left the Charlestown dock on Monday, en route to St. Kitts, from where they will join other athletes from St. Kitts and then journey on to Bermuda, in order to participate in the 2012 edition of the Carifta games. Catching the midday boat were: Britney Morton, Sadiki Tyson and Renika Daniel, while Kezron Archibald and Adrian Williams left an exciting cricket game between GSS and CSS at 3.50 pm in order to catch the 4.00 pm ferry.
All of the athletes appeared upbeat and this is what they had to say prior to leaving:
Brittney Morton: ‘I will be running the 100 and the 200 meters. I will be doing my best and hopefully will bring home some medals.’
Sadiki Tyson: ‘I will be running the 200 meters and will also be a part of the 4×100 relay. I expect to place in the top three.’
Renika Daniel: ‘I will be participating in the 400 meters event and I plan to come back with a gold.’
Adrian Williams: ‘Well, I will be participating in the under 20 javelin event. I expect to bring back a medal but I am not sure about the first—as yet. Record? Am not too sure either—but I am going to give it my best shot.’
Kezron Archibald: ‘Well, am going to compete in the shot put. Am going to give it my best. Definitely, I plan to come back with a gold.’ To see off the athletes were two of the top coaches on Nevis, representing their respective track clubs.
Wakeley Daniel of the Gladiators stated that he was happy to see so many athletes from Nevis making it into the national team for the Carifta games. He wished the athletes well in all of their endeavours.
Timothy Caines of the Titans Track club, noted that it was good to see Nevis producing more athletes at this level. He wished them improved times and medals.
