Nevisian Registration Disappointing For Historic Half Marathon Event

Winston Crooke

ZIZ News…Jan 27 2012 – President of the St. Kitts and Nevis Triathlon Association which is hosting the historic half marathon slated for Sunday 29th January, Winston Crooke, has indicated that all systems are in place for the staging of the big event.

However, Crooke has one major concern: Of the 75 persons who have booked on line for the event, only two are from Nevis. He is however confident that the local athletes are waiting until the last possible moment to register. He is however reminding them that absolutely NO REGISTRATION will be done on the day of the race and that persons have until late Saturday evening to finalize registration. He was pleased with the fact that a large number of persons have registered from the sister island of St.Kitts and is hoping that the Nevisians will step up to the plate to get some similar numbers in the various aspects of the event.

The event will commence promptly at 7 am in the vicinity of OCTAGON located on the Samuel Hunkins drive and will be phased as follows

5k—as far as the Four Seasons Resort and return

10k—to Cotton Ground-close to Nelson’s Spring and return

Half marathon—as far as the Vance Amory Airport and return

Persons interested in walking any of the distances are also invited to do so but that would not be a part of the actual competition. The event is being held as a Health awareness exercise in collaboration with the Diabetes Association.

The winners in each category will receive $250.00 US among other prizes.
