New 50-dollar polymer bank note launched

Basseterre, St. Kitts, May 29, 2019 (ZIZ News): The Eastern Caribbean Central Bank (ECCB) has launched a new $50 polymer note.

According to the ECCB, the new note has many advantages over the paper notes. These include durability, cleanliness and difficulty to counterfeit.

The new notes are resistant to dirt, moisture and water.

Governor of the ECCB Timothy N. J. Antoine expressed how significant the launch of the new notes is to the Eastern Caribbean via video-conference transmission from ECCB Agency Office in Grenada.

The new $50 polymer notes now exist alongside the paper notes which will be gradually phased out.
