New Commissioner of Police committed to fighting crime in St. Kitts-Nevis

ZIZ News…Aug 31, 2011 – A new era in crime fighting was ushered into the Federation on Wednesday when the baton was passed on to a new Commissioner of Police of the Royal St. Kitts-Nevis Police Force.

At a Baton passing ceremony Celvin G. Walwyn took up the mantle of leadership of the Law Enforcement body during a challenging time when crime is on the rise

In his address the new Police Commissioner spoke of his relentless plan to rid the communities of gun crime and rising gang violence.

Meanwhile outgoing Commissioner of Police Austin Williams said he is confident that under the new leadership the men and women of the Police Force will rise to the challenge in making St Kitts and Nevis a safer place.

The highlight of the ceremony was the address by Commissioner Celvin G. Walywn and passing of the baton from the outgoing Commissioner to the Commissioner designate.

Meanwhile following the ceremony, Mr. Walwyn, who becomes the Federation’s 7th Commissioner of Police since Independence 28 years ago, took his first salute outside the headquarters of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force on Cayon Street followed by a toast to mark the transfer.
