New PCs To Enhance Tele-Centers

ZIZ News) — Computers in community centres throughout St. Kitts will be replaced with upgraded equipment.

This comes following a hand-over of 10 new personal computers on Friday 3rd July.

The computers were donated by the International Telecommunications Union Programme Officer at the ITU Area Office, Sylvester Cadette, who stressed his organisation’s commitment to work with member states.

Cadette said the ITU is committed to connecting the world to its members in the Caribbean in particular. He outlined varied areas such as Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) and telecommunication development.

Minister with Responsibility for Information Technology, Hon. Vincent Byron accepted the donation and noted that the contribution will aid in helping to connect communities across the island, especially in rural areas, while stressing that persons who do not have access to computers can now visit the community centres and use them for research, to do projects, or just surf the internet.

This initiative will be expanded to include Nevis.
